Dust Jacket Design

Concept dust jacket design for one of my favorite novels, The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. The novel is abundantly loaded with recognizable icons which set this story in its 1960's time period. I chose to focus on cigarettes as a source of inspiration for the dust jacket. I used real tobacco to spell out "THE" on the front cover, and additionally edited a pack of cigarettes to create the cover art.
